Amanda Wong is an award winning set and costume designer, based in Toronto. Currently Amanda is working with Canadian Stage as the seasons design apprentice through the RBC Emerging Artist Award. She has also been selected as the Eco Design Mentee with the Canadian Green Allaince for 2024/25. For two consecutive years in 2014/2015, Amanda was awarded Outstanding Design award in the Summer Works theatre festival, creating with directors Severn Thompson and ted witzel respectively. In 2017 she was honoured with a nomination for the Pauline McGibbon award. She created costumes for CBC’s Baroness Von Sketch and painted for the reality TV staple; Big Brother Canada. In 2020 Amanda had the privilege of designing a 100 foot long plexiglass sculpture, which was displayed on the marquee location in front of Union station. Amanda has collaborated with prominent companies like Soulpepper Theatre, Tarragon theatre, Obsidian theatre, Modern Times Stage Co, Nightwood Theatre, Aluna Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille and The Canadian Stage Company. In her work she seeks to explore the depth and range of human emotion, through that exploration we heal. She is constantly looking for ways to deepen and marry her practices of sustainability and design/fabrication. Amanda is excited by creating both surreal, dream-like environments and heightened reality. Amanda is always excited by the opportunity for collaboration.
